Thank you for your enquiry. The use of predictor image morphing has been available on
the market for some time. It involves taking digital images of, for example, a
nose of a patient requesting rhinoplasty and using a computer program to
‘morph’ the image to the desired result. Proponants of this technology argue
that it allows the patient to see, accurately, the final result. Unfortunately
(no matter what is claimed), as a sugeon one can never gaurantee this as there
are so many factors both intra and post-operative that affect the final result.
None of the Harley Street plastic surgeons I worked with in the UK used
morphing software for this reason. I do however routinely take multiple digital
images to discuss the procedure and areas of concern so that both the patient
and I are clear about what we want to achieve.
