This young, dynamic plastic surgeon situated in Rosebank Medical Centre performs both surgical and non surgical solutions for all your cosmetic surgery needs.FHF spoke to Dr Steinmann, to find out a bit more about his profession:

Every plastic surgeon has a particular focus. What is yours?

“ I enjoy the variety of the speciality, but I have a specific interest in breast augmentation.”

What is most important to you during consultation with a new patient?

“I like to develop a trusting and amicable relationship with my patients. I want them to feel comfortable and relaxed during the consultation, so that they can make the right decisions.”

Where did you get your education and training?

“Wits University and The College of Plastic Surgeons of South Africa”

Why did you decide to specialise in plastic surgery?

“I always wanted to be a plastic surgeon, even since school. It is one speciality that provides one with diversity. I really enjoy making a difference in the quality of lives of my patients.”

Are there any procedures you do not do?

“I do not do procedures that will change or alter the facial features of a person to make them look like someone else or something. For example, Cat Woman….”

What procedure is most popular amongst your patients?

“Breast Augmentation”

Any piece of advice to a potential patient going under the knife?

“Always do it for yourself, and nobody else. Cosmetic Surgery is not a “quick fix” for depression or to win somebody back. There are risks and complications in all cosmetic surgery procedures and patients need to fully understand these risks. Never be afraid to ask your Surgeon if you are not 100% sure about the procedure, no matter how trivial it seems to you.”
